After years of renovation work, the new Sennhof was unveiled to the public in May 2023: Two "Open Door Days" offered a diverse program with guided tours, exhibitions, and concerts. The numerous visitors marveled at what had become of the former prison on the outskirts of the old town of Chur.

Where part of the old Sennhof was demolished, a five-story new building with 29 apartments has been built. Next to it, the area is open towards the vineyard. The centuries-old tower is preserved, as is the vaulted building, known as the Bogentrakt. In its ground floor, you'll now find the charmingly furnished KostBar, which combines a restaurant, bar, and lounge. On the floors above is the Hostel Bogentrakt, with seventy beds in 25 rooms that are entered through the former steel cell doors. Along Sennhofstrasse, small shops and various studios have settled – as well as the Fundaziun Capauliana, which exhibits its Grisons image archive here.

The new Sennhof is a colorful, diverse enrichment for the city of Chur. It is an open-minded place of encounter.
