The Sennhof is part of Chur's history. More than 7,000 years ago, people set up their camp here. Later, they crafted furniture, jewelry, and clothing in workshops.
In the 16th century, the round tower that still stands today was built. The designation "Sennhof" emerged from the activities of milk processing carried out in that location. The city wall within the area has its origins in the 13th century, while the present-day tower has its roots in the 16th century.
Silence was not golden but mandatory, or else the whip would strike. In the 20th century, conditions improved, yet there were still constant escape attempts.
Today, people come to the Sennhof voluntarily - for living, celebrating, and experiencing a diverse culture.
